The Love Newmilns app, a new community heritage app in East Ayrshire, was launched to applause on Saturday 10th May at Newmilns Church Hall. In attendance were East Ayrshire Chief Executive, Eddie Fraser and local MP, Lilian Jones. The app is a unique blend of historical locations, self-guided trails, heritage stories, and family-friendly games - all centred on the town of Newmilns in East Ayrshire. Visitors can explore curated walking routes, view archive photos reimagined using AI, and enjoy features like “Then and Now” historical comparisons.

Families can also take part in a fun Eye Spy challenge or uncover secrets in the local churchyard with a graveyard treasure hunt. The app includes maps, trail guidance, local business listings, event info, and a searchable index of community groups.

The Love Newmilns app is the result of 13 months’ work by the local heritage group. It was commissioned by the Newmilns Regeneration Association, developed by Aerial Digital Ltd, and funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
